Biography

Philip Cuomo is an actor, director and teacher, who has performed internationally and directed throughout the country. He is a member of the core company of Third Rail where he recently performed in Nobody Here But Us Chickens and Fabuloso, and was the fight choreographer for Chickens and Number Three. Philip also played Puck in Midsummer Night’s Dream for Artist Repertory Theatre, a bicultural production with the National Theatres of Vietnam.

His directing credits include Big Love, Kimberly Akimbo, The Mail Order Bride, The Blue Room, Our Town, A Tuna Christmas, We Won’t Pay! We Won’t Pay!, and The Late Christopher Bean, his own Hermes’ Mother and his own adaptation of the Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales.

Philip Cuomo created and directed the clown shows Bits and Pieces,Pas Deux Bits, Box O' Briefs and Exaggeration on a Theme, and created and directed La Carpa Del Maestro, La Carpa Del Ausente and La Carpa Calavera (Drammy winner for outstanding achievement in directing) for created in celebration of Dias de los Muertos.

Philip Cuomo directed God’s Ear for Theatre vertigo, and he was the choreographer for Hand2Mouth's Blue and From A Dream to a Dream (a co-production with the Polish theatre company Stacja Szamocin). He also conducted mask workshops for 's productions of Uncle Vanya and The Drawer Boy. He has also been a style coach and choreographer for numerous productions.

As a teacher, while in New York, Philip taught beginning acting at The Sonia Moore Studio of Theatre, clowning at , and Literacy through Dance at the . Here in Portland his teaching credits include Mask for , Movement for 's Actors-To-Go Program, Mask at at Jesuit High School, Level One Acting and Voice at , and Movement at ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ University. He teaches Clown, Mask, Movement, Improvisation and Voice at the , where he is the Associate Director.

Philip was an artistic associate for three years with School is Fun Productions in St. Petersburg, Florida, creating and directing several shows for schools. He worked for The Orange County Historical Museum and The Tampa Historical Society adapting and directing shows based on museum content and historical documentation. As an actor he has appeared at , , , and in Portland with , , and .
