Sample Timeline (OSU)

Here is one example of the forestry master's program timeline based on the most common start time at OSU (fall term). Students, however, may wish to start their time at OSU in either winter or spring terms, so the terms would shift accordingly.

TERM TIMELINE REQUIREMENT

Fall Year 3

  • Student meets with ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Lead Advisor
  • ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Lead Advisor contacts OSU Graduate Coordinator
  • OSU Graduate Coordinator arranges for student visit with OSU faculty
  • Student applies to OSU Graduate School

Winter/Spring Year 3

  • Student develops draft program of study with ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Lead Advisor and OSU Faculty Advisor

Fall Year 4

  • Student starts at OSU on provisional graduate status

Spring Year 4

  • Student alerts ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Lead Advisor that undergraduate work is complete
  • OSU confirms to ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Lead Advisor that coursework has been completed
  • ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ University grants undergraduate degree
  • Student petitions for regular graduate student status. OSU must have proof of the undergraduate degree before provisional status will be changed.
  • Students forms graduate committee with OSU Faculty Advisor guidance

Fall Year 5

  • Student completes and submits Program of Study form to Graduate School.

Spring Year 5

  • Student completes graduate classes, including non-thesis project, and passes final examination
  • OSU grants Master of Forestry degree
