Chinese allows me to stay in touch with my culture. I’m learning why my family has certain traditions and the value in celebrating them. Although it may seem difficult, it’s a very useful language to have under your belt. A year ago, a woman at the grocery store asked me in Mandarin if she was buying beef or pork. I was pleased knowing that I could answer her back.
