Lynn Brown joins Career Development as the Director of the Office of Career Design in Portland. What excites Lynn the most about her role is applying design thinking to career questions. After completing a course at the Stanford Design Lab called Designing Your Life in 2017, Lynn added some new design elements to her career advising like developing prototypes and acknowledging that designing your career and life is fluid and changes with new information like changes in the labor market and technology.
With a background in teaching, counseling and human resources, Lynn has over 15 years of experience in developing innovative programs in higher education at Marylhurst University and at PNCA since 2018. Lynn earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ University followed by a Master’s Degree in Education and Counseling from Western Oregon State College.
A highlight of Lynn’s career has been co-leading study abroad trips to the UK and Italy while unabashedly connecting the dots between students studying abroad and being more attractive to employers by increasing cultural competencies and many other skills.
Lynn lives in Portland with her husband and their dog, Fergus. Hiking, gardening, yoga, and spending time with family keeps her busy. Lynn’s latest interest is designing an Oracle Tarot Card deck to assist students in their career planning.
