About SSRD

Student Scholarship Recognition Day (SSRD) is held each spring to celebrate the exemplary scholarship and creativity of ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ University students. It is an event for students to share the fruits of their research, to present musical, theatrical, and dance performances, and to display works of art to fellow students, faculty, family and friends.

Regular classes are not held on the day of SSRD as a way of honoring the extraordinary accomplishments of our students and demonstrating ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ University’s institutional commitment to student scholarship.

The students whose work is presented at SSRD have been supported in various ways. Some have worked directly with members of the faculty as research assistants or on student-faculty collaborative projects. Others have designed and conducted their own research, often during summer break or throughout their senior year for a senior thesis or capstone research project. Still others have created original works in fine and performing arts.

Presenters are strongly encouraged to of their works to the SSRD digital collection in the .

Land Acknowledgement

We are gathered on the land of the Kalapuya, who today are represented by the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde and the Confederated Tribes of the Siletz Indians, whose relationship with this land continues to this day. We offer gratitude for the land itself, for those who have stewarded it for generations, and for the opportunity to study, learn, work, and be in community on this land. We acknowledge that our University’s history, like many others, is fundamentally tied to the first colonial developments in the ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Valley. Finally, we respectfully acknowledge and honor past, present, and future Indigenous students of ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ.
