Biography

Madilyn Zike has provided oversight to constituents and employees in the Executive and Legislative Branches in Nevada and Oregon, as well as County governments.

She credits her accomplishments to her commitment to managing with compassion, collaboration, and people focused Human Resources.

After earning her degrees in Juvenile Services and Social Work, Madilyn began her career as a substance abuse counselor and social worker the child welfare system in Nevada. After assuming the role of Social Welfare Programs Chief, she managed the design, development and implementation of the first federally mandated Child Welfare Information Technology System. The system combined statewide information and was used as a “one stop shop” regarding information for children and their families in the child welfare system. Nevada received a Computerworld award for their efforts.

She was recruited and accepted the position of Support Services Manager at the Nevada Legislature, and supervised Human Resources, Information Technology, and accounting. In that role, Madilyn provided project management expertise as they moved from a paper-based process to a paperless system for legislative activities.

Madilyn and her husband Tom moved to Oregon in 2010, and she assumed the role of Human Resources Manager for Marion County, and later the position of Chief Human Resources Officer in Lane County.

Her most recent position was as the Chief Human Resources Officer for the State of Oregon. During her 9-year tenure she facilitated the negotiations and implementation of labor agreements, supervised classification and compensation, statewide policy, educational programs, and provided executive coaching strategies. With her leadership, she and her team were recognized for their employee engagement program from the National Association of Personnel Executives. She is a frequent speaker to groups regarding the importance of collaborative and empathetic management to meet strategic initiatives.

When she is not teaching or coaching, Madilyn lives in rural Oregon with her husband, 3 dogs and cats, and 6 chickens. She enjoys gardening here in the beautiful ºìÐÓ¶ÌÊÓƵ Valley, reading, and landscaping her property.
